The Z1 relies on both vacuum and air flow (blower) to clear chips from the machine. The Z1 has a built-in blower fan, but it is not as effective as using an external blower. The Cyclone Lite has the necessary blower port as it was designed for use with the Z1. But its predecessor, the standard Cyclone, does not have this port. It turns out that hiding behind the right side grill on the Cyclone there is a circular blower port which can be used to interface to the Z1 with a standard 22mm CPAP hose like this one: https://amzn.to/4xeavTT This project creates a replacement grill that retains the original cooling slots and provides convenient access to the blower port on the Cyclone. The CPAP hose (with silicone ends) plugs directly into the blower port (now exposed) on the Cyclone and also into the blower port on the Z1.
Once you mill the new grill cover, use a sandpaper block to clean it up. Remove the screws from the existing grill cover and save them. Caution: Mine were in very tight and are easily stripped, so use and appropriately sized screw driver. Now simply replace the grill with the one you just milled, attach your hose and get improved chip removal!
